Have questions about how WorkAdvance actually works?
Here are some of the most common questions we get asked. If you don’t find the answer to your question here, feel free to reach out and a WorkAdvance team member will be happy to chat with you more.
WorkAdvance is a program of Madison Strategies Group, a non-profit that is funded by federal, state and local funding, including private foundations. All of our services are completely free to you and you will never have to pay anything back.
Career readiness training is one week. Technical training programs range anywhere from four weeks to 12 months, depending on your field of interest.
Our career readiness training and workshops are held at our office in Downtown Tulsa. We partner with highly qualified Tulsa-area schools to deliver technical training that will have you on the fast track to an in-demand career, including Tulsa Technology Center and Tulsa Community College. Course locations vary.
A GED or high school diploma is not required to be a part of WorkAdvance, however, some technical training courses or employers may require it. If you need help getting a GED or high school diploma, we can help you achieve that goal.
We know that each individual situation is different and we discuss it privately with each applicant. We’ve successfully trained and placed hundreds of justice-involved participants into new careers.
In general, you are:
- Ready and committed to launching a new career
- 18 years or older
- Authorized to work in the USA
- Willing to submit to a background check and/or drug test (While WorkAdvance does not perform these, it may be required by a training school or employer)
- Live within 40 miles of Tulsa
All you need to bring with you is a valid photo ID. Bring a resume if you have one. If you don’t, we can help!
